RentTurf care professionals occasionally need to use chemicals to control pests and/or promote healthy growth; sprayers allow them to apply these chemicals efficiently over large areas.
Read More (Sprayers)Sprayers are the perfect tool to apply chemicals to large swaths of turf efficiently and effectively, whether on a golf course or other sports field, a commercial lawn, or a residential lawn. Available in capacities ranging from 25 gallons (94.6 liters) to more than 250 gallons (946.4 liters), professional-grade sprayers enable operators to apply chemicals to turf uniformly via spray nozzles integrated into booms. Those booms are typically foldable via hinges and can reach widths extending past 15 feet (4.6 meters). In addition to offering sprayers as dedicated standalone vehicles, manufacturers sell sprayers that are mountable on utility vehicles or carts and that tractors, lawn mowers, or other vehicles can pull. One-person stand-on spreader-sprayer models are also available.
In addition to booms that lift and lower via electric and hydraulic power, today’s sprayers use varying technologies to maintain a consistent spray pattern, even while operating on uneven terrain. Additionally, some models include a hose reel system with an integrated spray nozzle that lets an operator walk about and apply chemicals if needed. Precise application is of critical importance, so modern sprayers often include components and technologies that reduce chemicals from drifting during application. Some also come with foam marker systems that designate the outside boundary of each spray pass to give operators a visual indication of where they’ve already sprayed to avoid overspray and missing areas altogether.
Other features and accessories for sprayer systems can include agitation nozzles, systems that keep the chemicals in the tank properly mixed, and water-rinsing systems or kits that help dispose of chemicals appropriately when application is complete. Some spray systems, such as Toro’s Pro WM offering for Toro utility vehicles, include a console that enables operators to quickly find, view, and control various functions. Toro’s system also includes an onboard mixing station and boom shroud that extends slightly below the boom to reduce chemical drift during windy conditions.
Besides Toro, top brands of new and used sprayers for sale on NeedTurfEquipment.com include John Deere, Smithco, Fimco, and others.
