The E40 is a 4-5-ton machine with high power and excellent maneuverability. It offers serious bang for the buck, as it delivers more performance at its base price than other brands. Designed to increase confidence in confined jobsites, this minimal tail swing excavator has less than 2 inches of overhang, and its standard-equipped long arm is optimized for leading performance, convenient trailering and greater jobsite maneuverability. Some other conventional tail swing models from other brands come close to the E40's lift capacity, but operators will sacrifice maneuverability to get it.

The 40 hp, Tier 4, turbocharged Bobcat engine delivers consistently high torque levels regardless of elevation. It’s also emissions-compliant without the use of a diesel particulate filter (DPF) or selective catalyst reduction (SCR), which simplifies maintenance and operation.
The main valve of the E40 is finely tuned with performance that's matched to the boom, blade and travel motors. Designed for improved metering and finite movement, it provides optimal controllability and fast cycle times that can be measured in more accomplished per hour.
The long arm, which comes standard, adds 12 inches of additional digging depth and reach.
With less than 2 inches of tail overhang, operators will confidently work in tight areas or against obstacles. The E40 slews and deposits soil with less repositioning or worry about accidental contact with surrounding objects.
The exclusive Bobcat in-track swing frame allows operators to get closer to their work with swing frame castings and cylinders that won’t extend beyond the tracks when offset digging. Operators can dig flush up against an obstacle and see the work more easily in tight areas.

The R2-Series cab offers an unbeatable operator experience. Tall, wide windows have maximum glass surface area, with a top window and narrow side pillars for excellent visibility. Plenty of foot space, fold-away floor pedals and a large suspension seat provide plenty of room and comfort for the job.
The high-performance cooling system has side-by-side heat exchangers to control operating temperatures more efficiently, improving performance, noise levels and serviceability while protecting engine component life. There is also no need to separate coolers when cleaning out debris.
Bright, efficient and reliable standard LED lights provide far-reaching visibility when the light level is low.
With the angle blade option, operators can adjust the blade position left or right up to 25 degrees, which enables faster, easier backfilling and grading. It can also be useful for adding stability when digging on uneven terrain.
The optional clamp diverter valve enhances hydraulic clamp functionality and improves the ability to run other attachments without disconnecting the clamp.
