Toro Announces New ProCore 648s Aerator
Toro recently introduced its new ProCore 648s aerator, the next generation of its popular ProCore 648, which has some new features and upgrades that should make turf care professionals’ lives a little easier. One big update is the new aerator’s electronic drive control, which maintains consistent hole spacing when aerifying sloping terrain and lets operators perform faster, tighter turnarounds.
“We are keeping everything that people love about the ProCore 648 and improving on it,” says Toro Global Product Marketing Manager Jeffrey Ische. “We’ve listened to our customers and are confident they’ll find that the features on the new ProCore 648s, which has more than 10 new patents, will help improve productivity, operating consistency, ease of use and, most importantly, its aerating performance.”
Key Features
Another big upgrade is new aerator’s Delayed Mode setting, which creates less surface disruption and allows the turf to more quickly return to pre-aeration conditions. The 648s constantly monitors key operating parameters and automatically adjusts in order to get the max tine depth on the first entries into the soil. This saves time and effort that might otherwise be needed to repair tufted turf. Delayed Mode also simplifies pass starts and stops (as well as pauses for obstacles) by letting operators use the leading edge of the tire to gauge where they want the coring head to drop or raise.
Other upgrades include a redesigned operator handle that makes the machine easier to control with one hand from either side, tine arms that operate in pairs for balance and to avoid hopping or rocking, and the addition of Toro’s InfoCenter technology. InfoCenter gives managers precise settings control, such as the ability to adjust hole distances using 0.25-inch increments as needs dictate.
Toro offers a new storage box accessory, as well as an LED light kit for the 648s. The manufacturer also reports that the 648s is fully compatible with all the accessories for its ProCore 648 predecessor, so owners of that machine don’t need to duplicate accessory purchases.
