John Deere Announces New PrecisionCut Fairway Models For 2019
With availability expected for 2019, John Deere recently announced three new A Model PrecisionCut Fairway mowers. John Deere designed the lineup as a cost-effective solution that can still handle the various challenges fairway applications can present.
Patterned after the company’s 8000A E-Cut Hybrid Fairway mower’s three-wheel platform and powering on a 24.7-horsepower diesel engine, the new 6080A, 6500A, and 6700A PrecisionCut models also incorporate fairway-focused technologies from John Deere’s Fairway, Rough, and Trim & Surrounds mowers. NeedTurfEquipment.com has numerous used John Deere mowers for sale.
On The Fairway
As with existing A Model fairway mowers, John Deere says the new 6080A, 6500A, and 6700A mowers will include LoadMatch technology as a standard feature, which aims to ensure operators get quality cuts, including on hills. The mowers also include hydraulic mow circuits, support all-day mowing ability, and include an eHydro transmission that works to eliminate linkages between the mowers’ pedals and the hydrostatic pump.
Brad Aldridge, John Deere Golf product manager, says that in general tight operating budgets and increasing labor costs are leaving customers in need of an affordable fairway mowing solution that can still get the job done. Challenging itself to “design a machine that boosts productivity and maintains quality of cut while keeping costs down,” Aldridge said John Deere did just that with the new models.
Mow Em’ Down
Operating at a top 8 mph (12.9 km/h) speed, the new mowers integrate John Deere’s password-protected TechControl Display, which enables operators to input mow, turn, and transport speeds and other service timers. Additionally, the display’s onboard diagnostics allows operators to control cut quality and performance parameters.
In terms of performance, the 6080A’s 18-inch (45.72-centimeter) QA5 cutting units support an 80-inch (2.032-meter) cut width while the 6500A and 6700A support 100-inch (2.54-meter) cut widths. Notably, however, the 6500A uses 22-inch (55.88-centimeter) QA5 cutting units while the 6700A uses 22-inch (55.88-centimeter) QA7 cutting units. All three mowers also use John Deere’s Model Fairway Mower platform and the all-wheel GRIP drive-traction system. Combined, these enable easier hill climbing without the associated worries of high-side tire slippage, John Deere states.
Elsewhere, all three models include Command Arm-mounted controls for making seat adjustments. To increase machine and operator uptime, meanwhile, the mowers internal hydraulic wet disk brakes eliminate linkage adjustments and grease points in the mowers’ brake system, while the traction-drive system only requires one fluid type for maintenance purposes.
